that's 38.5k, and right afterwards I mapped out of kama to KC. And they're gone.

Literally disappeared. I didn't "accidently delete" them or anything. They just vanished.

so now I'm out 38.5k and I need to farm it all back. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Is there some kind of explanation?

I'm pretty frustrated.

I thought this was going to be some kind of failure of a bragging thread, maybe even a horrible attempt at trolling...

But, that sucks. Can't say anything like that has ever happened to me.

Did you try opening and closing your inventory? Relogging?

I relogged twice, checked everywhere in my storage, bags, everything.

There's NO reason why this should have happened -_-

I had something similar, but that was after a big lag crash and is over 3 years ago.
I had found a superior vigor which at that time where very expensive, a few
secconds later I had a error with many players at that time.
Once back in the game the rune was gone.
But I never had something like you , traveling from 1 place to the other.
So there must be ore a new kind or bug, or you placed it by mistake in the
trash can... And that my friend...happend to me as wel once or twice

I'm gonna go with you in fact bought 38 monstrous claws. The reason you can't ind them is because they've stacked with the monstrous claws you already have.

Either that or you're magic, I dunno.

I came into this thread expecting a punchline and now I'm all disappointed.

oh oh... and the merch says to me "no a fang way".
or maybe... and the merch asks me if I know what's sharper than a monsters fang, and I tell him "the monster's other fang!"

[Edit] No, no! You went back to the town to confront the merchant for cheating you and he said you were lying and then you told him that "you were telling the tooth!".

It's not a case of the material icon not loading? I had that at a few occasions where I panicked, but when I hovered over the "empty space", the description and stuff still showed up.

thats often happens to me, especially when loading into packed towns, e.g. kamadan....

I bought 50 fangs and I had problems. So then I bought 100 ectos and that didnt' show up either.

but then the next day I realize that whatever the item was, never went anywhere, i just didn't look properly

Sorry to hear this I had this happen before think it was when gw didn't save properly on server side.
Wasn't a biggy like yours just a weapon I had just bought from a merch and i had to log out almost immediately for some reason
and came back a few hrs later and it was gone from the toon.
First i would make absolutely sure you don't have the Fangs in any of your bags or you have the money that you spent returned.
Second id check to see if your .dat file is corrupted and do a repair on it.
If you still are sure you have a problem contact support with relevant info including the time and
see if they can help you good luck.

Are you sure the 38,5k isn't in the storage and you never bought them?

Or that those 35 monsterous fangs are not in the material tab?

If not then this is just magic and you just have to get anet revert it from happening *Anti Magic

Now, back the OP: Bugs do occur in the game. However, 99 times out of 100, what someone thinks is a random bug that only affected them, is actually human error. Still, people reading a post often just take everything you state as fact and they assume it's a bug. When in truth, it is more likely that one of the following occured:
1) You bought monsterous claws, not fangs.
2) You completed the deal as planned, but you mistakenly think they disappeared because you are looking at the 0 claws in your materials storage.
3) You didn't actually click to purchase (but you thought you did).
4) Your inventory was full, and the trade wasn't completed.
5) You forgot to have the money in your purse, so what you actually did was got a "quote" on fangs.
6) You were suffering some bad lag, and you weren't doing what you thought you were doing (like you maybe threw your fangs into your garbage can while thinking you were clicking on something else).

I'm sure there are other possibilities, including that it was indeed a bug. But I expect it was one of the things above.
